ABOUT US

Story

Silk Pyjamas Club was created among 7 friends and played for 2 years.

When we met up for drinks the UFC was always the hot topic of conversation. Quickly, the conversation would turn into heated arguments over things like:

Who’s the GOAT?

Who was the better champion, Jose or Conor?

How would Bisping compare to this generation of Middleweights?

We would argue so much that at times, we would empty pubs of their patrons.

So, Silk Pyjamas was created to settle scores among friends and really test our UFC IQ. And it worked! In a way…

Instead of the arguments, now we brag if we’re doing well and get ridiculed when we’re not. The Leaderboard doesn't lie!

We enjoy playing SPJ so much we thought others will like it also. So, we decided to give it a go and develop a game for all to play, to enhance the experience when we watch the UFC.

What’s with the name “Silk Pyjamas Club"?

The “club” in Silk Pyjamas Club is because UFC is still a niche sport. Although the UFC is growing rapidly, there are more casuals than hardcore fans.

Maybe your friends don’t follow it, maybe whenever you try to bring up UFC at the pub there’s no one that wants to argue with you.

Maybe you don’t have any friends but love the UFC.

Well, now you’re part of the Silk Pyjamas Club, you have them!

The “Silk Pyjamas” part of the name is taken from ‘Marvellous’ Marvin Haglers’ quote “it’s tough to get out of bed and do Roadwork at 5am, when you’ve been sleeping in Silk Pyjamas”.

We think that it is fitting for the game, don’t get comfortable if you’re sitting pretty at the top of the leaderboard as a lot can change in the next round.

Our Mission

The mission is to build an enjoyable game that users can play for bragging rights, or for money if they’re up for the challenge.

We want the game to go hand in hand with the experience when watching the UFC.

We want to build the game so it’s like a real UFC fight. The further into the fight you get, as each round passes the tension continues to build.

By the final round, if you find yourself with enough points and wildcards to use, then you’re still in the fight for a chance to become champion.

Some Game Ideas

We want to keep it topical to the UFC, so there’ll be Interim Champions when a player is top of the leaderboard until the Champion is crowned for the person that’s at the top at the end of the season.

The season will last for 3 months and for every UFC event there will be a round to make your picks, accumulating points as you go.

We want to add achievements to the game, like if a user has 10 points or more on a fighter and they win, they’ll get an achievement called “Headshot, Dead”.

Mini Leagues to play with friends, Major Leagues to play with your favourite Youtubers, Podcasters and MMA influencers. Giving them the opportunity to connect with their audience.
